***
On the coast near Undella Town, two figures were walking along. One, a mid-height, 22-year-old female dressed in a white business shirt, long black tie, dark grey pants held up by a belt, navy blue overcoat, black and red shoes, and black cap. She brushed back a bit of her red hair from her face and adjusted her glasses, thinking about something. The other was a pokemon; a snow-furred quadrupedal with contrasting snow-white fur. The fur on his head was shaped similarly to a ying-yan symbol, and also revealed the pokemon's crimson red eyes. By far the strangest part about the pokemon was a large black horn protruding out from the right side of his forehead. He said nothing and followed at the side of his trainer as she thought about the recent reports in the area.

"The Seaside Cave was only a mile away on Undella Bay's coastline. Despite this distance and being the habbitat for numerous water-types, few trainers venutred deep into it. However, numerous trainers have reported that certain pokemon of theirs have acted strangely to something in the cave. So far the documented pokemon in question included Gardevoir, Mawhile, Gengar, Beedrill, Gyrados, Absol..."
The red-haired reporter trailed off as she glanced at the snow-furred dark type next to her. Absol merely glanced up at his trainer, before glaring ahead at the mouth of Seaside Cave. Shaking her head, Camille sighed at her situation. "Whhhhyy did Professor Juniper not tell me to come here in the first place for the interview? I know that this'll be more interesting that just talking about the discovery, but why not tell me sooner?" Camille moaned. "I hope there are no ghosts in there... You'll protect me, right Absol?" She shuttered at the thought of ghosts.

"Absol." The pokemon responded in disinterest. The two walked up to the cave and entered, looking for the Professor.

***
Stepping into the mouth of the Seaside Cave, Camille looked around for any sign of Professor Juniper, but found nothing. "That's strange... she should be here right now... please don't tell me she went further in..." Camille moaned.

"Excuse me..." A new voice asked from behind. Camille jumped nearly a foot into the air as she turned to look behind her. Absol merely turned around and stared at the new arrival with a bored expression.

The person in question was a lady who looked to be anywhere from her late twenties to late thirties. She had knee-length blonde hair that curled near the bottom and fell over her left eye. She wore almost all black; her pants, coat, shirt and high heels were all black, with the only exceptions being a stripe of yellow on her high-heels and hair beads, and light grey on her coat buttons and zipper. Black fur trimmed her coat's ankles and coattails, and a ring of it around her neck like a choker. Her calm but friendly grey eyes watched Camille and Absol in playful amusement.

The woman continued, "...I'm looking for-"

"OMIGOSH!!!" Camille suddenly exclaimed, "YOU'RE CYNTHIA, CHAMPION OF THE SINNOH LEAGUE! OMIGOSH CAN I-" She began to ramble with stars in her eyes, and hands held in front of her as if in prayer.

"Soooooool." Absol shook his head in annoyance, sighed, before poking his trainer's leg with one of his claws. It soon brought her back to reality.

"Owwww! What'd you do that for Absooooool..." Camile trailed off when she remembered who was in front of them. She rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment, "S-sorry about that. I get worked up when around famous people, part of it being a journalist and all. Can we start over?" She asked hopefully.

Cynthia laughed good-naturedly, "Of course. Hello, my name is Cynthia. I'm looking for Professor Juniper, she asked me for assistance with some sort of discovery."

Camille's eyes widened, "Wait, Professor Juniper also called me here for an interview regarding a discovery made here. This can't be a coincidence, maybe she called both of us here?"

Cynthia closed her eyes in thought, "That seems to be the the most likely scenario. And she's not the type to leave you hanging like this. She may be a bit impulsive, but not like this. I'm worried something might've happened."

"Yeah." Camille agreed. "Maybe we should go looking for her in the cave. Oh! I almost forgot; my name's Camille."

"Pleased to meet you, Camille. And yes, we should look for her." Cynthia agreed.

The two proceeded to head deeper into the cave. A few wild pokemon attacked them, but they were easily dispatched by Absol. Camille and Cynthia made smalltalk as they explored the cave, swapping small stories and generally becoming more acquainted with each other.

About half an hour passed before Camille stopped walking, "Whew... we've been doing this for awhile. Is Professor Juniper-" She then noticed Absol staring off deeper into the cave, his fangs barred, "Absol, is something wrong?"

"He might be sensing something." Cynthia theorized, before sighing, "If he is, then we should be worried. Something bad is coming our way." Camille groaned in frustration before shaking her head. Before she could say anything, Absol darted forward, running deeper into the cave.

"Absol!" Camille cried out as she ran after him, with Cynthia hot on her heels.

Chasing after Absol had led them behind a large boulder that gave them a view of an underground lake, but Absol was nowhere to be seen. Camille was about to start investigating when Cynthia suddenly grabbed her by the collar of her coat and pointed to the faraway edge of the lake. Camille's purple eyes widened at the sight man and woman dressed in a black paramilitary outfit patrolling the lake. A sigil consisting of a blue P with a matching-colored zig zag running through it on a black and white shield  made it obvious who these two grunts belonged to: Neo Team Plasma.

Camille and Cynthia hid from the Plasma Grunts as they walked past. "Team Plasma? Nothing's good with them around." Cynthia muttered.

Camille suddenly felt a large hole in her stomach, "You think they might be behind Professor Juniper's appearance?" She inquired.

Cynthia shook her head. "Its definitely a possibility. Who knows what they might want with her?" She was about to say more when she noticed a crack forming on the boulder. "Camille, get back!" Grabbing the journalist's arm, the two jumped away as the boulder crumbled, revealing a female Team Plasma Grunt and a Scrafty that had shattered the boulder.

"Well, well." She teased, "Seems a few unlucky snoops have been trying to stick there noses in our operation!" As she said this, a few other grunts closed in on the ex-champion and journalist.

Camille glared at the grunt, "I could care less about what you're doing! What I want to know is what have you Team Plasma jerks have done with Professor Juniper?!" She shouted.

"Neo Team Plasma doesn't have to explain its goals to the likes of you!" A nearby Grunt snapped.

"We don't need an explanation." Cynthia replied cooly, drawing a pokeball from her belt. Camille quickly followed suit. "A criminal group like you is all the explanation we need. Now surrender unless you would like a thrashing." The blonde threatened coldly.

"Yeah! Let's see you try!" Camille shouted, ready for battle.

The female Grunt with the Scrafty waved her arm dismissively. "As exciting as that would be, we have backup plans, Ms. Champion." Raising her voice, the Grunt gestured to various other Grunts in the area. "Intruder Code Red! All grunts, use Capture Plan Delta-7!" She ordered. Before they could react, Cynthia and Camille's eardrums were attacked by a horrendously loud noise coming from numerous grunts' Golbats, who were all using Screech to disorient them. Then before Camille could come to her senses, she found herself looking into the eyes of another Golbat, this one using Confuse Ray, trapping her senses in a strange limbo, only seeing blurry images. She could faintly see something black moving towards her, but wasn't sure if it was Cynthia or a Plasma Grunt. Camille then felt someone grab her, and it was then where her senses completely failed her, now only being able to see strange, multicolored images of people and Pokemon Camille met over the years. It was as if she was flying through space...

***
After flying through space, Camille suddenly regained her senses, and found herself in a metallic room. "Whht hhppmnmd? (What happened?)" Camille mumbled, only to realize she was gagged with something. It felt sticky, and-

"Ghmnllm? (Camille?)" A muffled voice to her left asked. Tracing the source of the voice, Camille's eyes widened at who she found.

"Prhfmffhr Jhnnpmr! (Professor Juniper!)" Indeed, they had found the missing professor. She had black duct tape wrapped in bands around her wrists, legs, and chest, restraining her movements. More tape was wrapped around her head and over her mouth, just at the base of her light brown beehive hairdo. Professor Juniper was wearing a white tank-top with a short green skirt, and red sneakers. She was missing her white lab coat, presumably taken off to not give any slack in the tape.

Looking down, Camille could see that she was tied in the same way as Professor Juniper; her arms were in a box tie behind her back, held there by tape. More tape was wrapped around her chest, trapping the black tie underneath. Camille's legs were restrained by tape above her ankles and knees, each covering nearly half of that part of her legs. Giving her binds a small tug, huffed as she realized that it wouldn't be easy getting out.

A third muffled voice suddenly sounded, "Prhfmffhr? Ghmnllm? (Professor? Camille?)" The two looked to their rights to find Cynthia, bound and gagged the same way as them. Her black coat was missing, revealing her sleeveless black blouse. Her trapped, wavy blonde hair swung as she turned to them. "Thhfm grhntf ghpthrmd hf hnd thhg hhr Phgmmhn. Wm nmmd th fnnd h whn th frmm hhrfmlvmf hnd mfghpm. (Those grunts captured us and took our Pokemon. We need to find a way to free ourselves and escape.)" She muffled. After a bit of translating in her mind, Camille nodded.

"Bht Hhw? (But how?)" Camille asked.

Before anyone could answer though, three male Plasma Grunts walked into the room with three Mightyenas, large wolf-like Pokemon with black and grey fur and yellow eyes with red irises. They sat next to there trainers, watching the three bound women. "Alright, you three will follow us. No squirming, or else..." One of the grunts gestured to the Mightyenas. The three captives understood immediately, and allowed the grunts to stand them up and hop out. The outside revealed that they had been imprisoned inside of a giant drilling machine that could travel underground. "This way, prisoners!" The grunt sneered at led them away. Unbeknownst to them, a strange ball of white fur was hiding underneath the treads of the vehicle.

"Absooolll..." He growled.

***
The three hopped over to a strange rock lodged into the wall. It was about the size of a lightbulb, and frequently pulsated a faint green glow. An odd painting was behind them, depicting pokemon transforming into similar, but different versions of themselves. The three women stared at it before the Plasma Lieutenant brought them to attention. "This stone... our energy readings went off the scale upon finding it, and Pokemon seem to have a strange love-hat relationship with it." She explained. "We require your knowledge of Pokemon and their relations to energies in the air and ground, Professor. Give us your cooperation, and you will be let free. Otherwise, you and your friends will be in for a long stay." She grinned evilly.

Professor Juniper looked back to Cynthia and Camille, who were both screaming muffled advice telling her not to do so, but she only nodded. Some grunts ripped the tape from her mouth and pulled away the cloth inside "I understand. Please don't hurt them."

The Plasma Lieutenant smirked. "Good. Put the other two back and watch them, but leave the Professor here." She dismissed her subordinates, who made Camille and Cynthia hop back to the prison. The lieutenant turned to Professor Juniper. "Now, about that stone..."

***
Cynthia and Camille struggled to get out of the tape binding them upon getting back to the prison. The grunts had taken the liberty to tape their fingers together as to not untie each other, then taped the ex-champion and journalist back-to-back to limit their options.

"MMMPH!" Camille screamed at the grunts as they closed the door behind them, leaving Camille and Cynthia alone. "Ym wnt gt mwmy wth ths! (You won't get away with this!)" Camille shouted through the tape wrapped around her head. Cynthia stayed still and thought about any way they could escape and rescue the professor, which was made a bit difficult to do as Camille was struggling made behind her. Sighing, the blonde decided to talk some sense into the redhead.

"Cmll, clm dwn. Wm wnt gt mnnwphm lkmph ths. (Camille, calm down. We won't get anywhere like this.)" She calmly instructed, and Camille did follow her orders. Taking a breather, the journalist looked  behind her shoulder to Cynthia's grey eyes.

"Mlrghm, wht dm wmm dmph? (Alright, what do we do?)" She asked, having no idea as they were bound and gagged with limited movement options, grunts posted at their only exit, other grunts in the surrounding area, no Pokemon, and had their personal belongings stripped away. A successful escape was looking pretty slim.

"M smw whr mr phmkphm mmr bmmph hmph. (I saw where our Pokemon are being held.)" Cynthia explained. "Mts rght nst tm ths rm! Mf wm cm gmt frmm mnd nmph mmt thm gmmrds, wm cm tmk thm grmnts mnd frmm thm prmfmssr! (Its right next to this room! If we can get free and knock out the guards, we can take the grunts and save the professor!)" She explained.

Camille raised an eyebrow at that vague plan. "Bmt hw wmll wm gmt frmm? (But how will we get free?)"

Before Cynthia could answer, a doors to their prison opened, causing both of the captives' heads to shoot towards the doorway. Pruple and grey eyes widened when they saw who was in the doorway.

"Absol." The Disaster Pokemon grunted, and walked over. The unconscious bodies of the guarding grunts were visible beyond the doors.

"Mbslll! (Absol!)" Camille cried out in happiness. "Qmk, ct ms frmm! (Quick, cut us free!)" She gestured to her binds. Absol unsheathed his claws, and cut through the tape binding Cynthia and Camille back-to-backlike a knife through warm butter. After releasing their arms, Absol sat patiently as Camille unqwound the tape from around her head. "*Pah!*" Camille spat the cloth out, "It wouldn't have killed them to use a clean rag." Camille muttered before smiling happily at Absol. "Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou-" Camille quickly spouted as she tightly wrapped her arms around Absol's neck.

Cynthia smirked good-naturedly at the sight, before tapping Camille on the shoulder. "I think you're choking him." She pointed out.

"O-oh. Right. Sorry." Camille awkwardly phrased as she let go of the dark-type. Absol glared at her before turning around and watched for any more grunts. "So, our pokeballs are right next to this room?" She asked Cynthia.

"Yes. Let's recover them, and then save the professor. I have just the plan in mind..."

***
Watched over by various grunts, Professor Juniper worked using the equipment provided to her by Team Plasma to try and determine the stone's strange effects. In that time, she was able to that no Pokemon in the cave were affected by it, but some of Team Plasma's Pokemon were affected, most notably with the Houndooms that patrolled the area. While unbound, the professor was under heavy watch, and was visited periodically to progress reports. She didn't want to give them any data, but Professor Juniper didn't have a choice if she didn't want Camille and Cynthia to be harmed.

Hearing the Plasma Lieutenant walk up again, she sighed. "I haven't made too much progress on the stone. Their are too many hypothesizes and variables to consider." She repeated for the umpteenth time.

The Lieutenant frowned. "We realize that, which is why once we drill this stone away, YOU'RE comin' with us back to HQ." She informed, causing the professor's eyes to widen.

"What!? But what about-"

"The Champion will be coming with us; she's too valuable to let go. The reporter will be left behind to whoever finds her." The Lieutenant smirked. "I'm sure Dr. C-"

*BOOM!*

A loud explosive shook the cave around the two, and soon afterwards Cynthia and Camille ran up, with Cynthia's Garchomp and Camille's Absol ready for battle. The Lieutenant gritted her teeth at the sight, and quickly grabbed Professor Juniper and held a knife to her neck. "D-don't come any closer!" She stammered, knowing that she stood no chance as the two had easily defeated every grunt in the vicinity. "O-or else she'll-!"

"Crobat! Aerial Ace!" Camille interrupted with a shout. The Lieutenant wasn't able to finish her sentence before a Crobat swooped in and used Aerial Ace on the knife, causing the Lieutenant to drop it and Professor Juniper to elbow her and run towards Camille and Cynthia. "Now use Confuse Ray!" Camille commanded. Crobat shot a glowing ball of energy from his eyes into The Lieutenant, causing her to disorient herself and hallucinate. Cynthia quickly used from rope she grabbed from earlier and tied up The Lieutenant.

"I'll call the police." Professor Juniper said as she calmed down. "Fist, lets get out of here."

"Agreed." Cynthia nodded.

"No arguments here!" Camille chirped. "Now about that interview..."

***
Soon afterwards, the three sat in Cynthia's Villa, sipping coffee and talking about Professor Juniper's discovery. "Its only a theory, but it would seem that the stone's energy is reacting to the pokemon's DNA somehow. This might have caused those mutations depicted on the painting." Professor Juniper said. "I was curious about the murals, so I asked Cynthia to review the paintings and see if they tie into any past myths or history." Camille listened as she furiously scribbled down notes in a notebook.

"Yes." Cynthia nodded, "There aren't any records of such a phenomenon happening. The largest similarity would be the myths on Dialga and Palkia's Primal Formes, but thats abut it. Its all theory at this point." The blonde explained as she sipped her coffee.

Professor Juniper then looked at Camille, who was scribbling so fast she could see smoke coming from the pen. "Um, Camille?"

"...Aaaaaaaaaand done!" Camille breathed as she slammed her pen on the paper to create the final period. Looking around, she saw Professor Juniper and Cynthia looking at her confusedly. "What?"

"It's nothing." Cynthia said. She then smiled at the reporter, "Thank you for helping us today, Camille." The redhead giddily squeed at this, before composing herself and smiling back.

"No problem! I'm happy to help! And thank you two for the interviews!" Camille smiled, and fantasized about her magazine's good reviews, using various poses as she did. Absol sweat-dropped, while Cynthia and Professor Juniper merely laughed.

THE END
I love Pokemon, so an OC for it had to come out of me sooner or later! Introducing Camille, a cheery, peppy magazine reporter who wants nothing more than to please her readers. However, n her pursuits of a good story, she has a habit of running into less-than-nice people, and you all know what happens next. I also decided to throw in two damsels who I think are neglected in the DiD community, Professor Juniper and Cynthia! I love these two.

As for the story itself, I ended up cutting a scene in the beginning where Camille is told by the Professor to meet her at the Seaside Cave. It was filler, so I cut it out. I also was going to have a section where Absol freed Crobat and worked together to free everyone, but I wasn't happy with how it was going, so I deleted it. Otherwise, I'm happy how I was able to tie the story into a mechanic used in later games (Free internet cookies to whoever names said mechanic), and I liked howCamille turned out. I'm giving her a bio, if you want to check her out a bit more.

I've always enjoyed this story, I just never got around to letting you know it. But the depiction of the situation and the characters is top notch!
